Trapist – brings the flavours of ancient times to life

Trapist is a semi-hard fat cheese made of cow's milk, with a slightly sour flavour and a pleasant, moderately pronounced smell.

Rind has the colour of straw, it is elastic and smooth, while the body is covered with few evenly distributed holes. This supreme cheese is an ideal component of any cheese platter; it is recommended to be paired with dried fruits, grapes, a glass of white wine or to be enjoyed alone with a piece of bread.

Trapist is available in 500 g and 2 kg packages.

The story of origin

History of trappist started in the 17th century in the Cistercian Abbey of Notre Dame de la Trappe in the French province of Normandy. As the monks travelled throughout Europe and established new monasteries, they brought along the recipe for production of this cheese. Trappist arrived to our area thanks to the monks of Marija Zvijezda monastery near Banja Luka, from which it spread to the Bjelovar-Podravina area as well.
