Little patients of the hospital in Klaićeva Street today eat with joy and greater satisfaction!
Clinical Nutrition Improvement Project, within which a research
titled nutritionDay was conducted in November last year, was
launched in the Children's Hospital Zagreb in February 2009. The
main purpose of this research was to raise awareness of the
importance of nutrition in hospitals and to contribute to its
improvement. The research was conducted on a global level by the
European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism
(ESPEN).
Among other things, nutritionDay research showed that a great
number of children refuse to eat clinical food, although, based on
the choice of ingredients and preparation quality, the food is of
high standards. Therefore, the main reason was not the choice,
preparation method or taste of food, but the way it was
served.
Since Children's Hospital Zagreb has a small kitchen capacity and
has no food portioning in specialized dishes, food is served at
wards in small stainless steel bowls (mostly in one bowl) just
before consumption, while salad is served separately, depending on
type of served food.
Thanks to the donation of Dukat's Division of Medical Nutrition,
which has recently included a high quality infant nutrition brand
Celia in its
product range, today in Children's Hospital Zagreb food is served
in specialized, colorful children trays with sections.
The mentioned trays are intended for children and are used by
brave patients of the hospital in Klaićeva Street, which has made
this children's hospital and its nutrition even greater friend of
children.
